Fellfoot Fables

Fellfoot Fables: a virtual creative writing series

During the current period of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the North Pennines AONB Partnership is inviting you to take part in Fellfoot Fables, a free creative writing series. This project is being delivered by Eden Valley-based poet and novelist, Katie Hale.

Fellfoot Fables aims to hear the future voice of Fellfoot. Keeping within government guidelines on social distancing, we want those involved to look closely at their own corner of the North Pennines AONB and the Eden Valley – to record their experience of home during this period of change.

Katie is producing a series of sessions, delivered through videos and worksheets, to help participants produce a poem or piece of creative prose, exploring their immediate environment. The sessions are tailored for both primary age, KS2 children and the wider community. The following links include all the materials you need to get started. Schools will be asked to register with us.

We will share work produced from Fellfoot Fables on our website, social media channels and the Fellfoot Forward Facebook group.

Following the end of the lockdown period, we are aiming to share selected pieces of writing by working with local and regional media. Work will also be distributed to local libraries and festivals through print publication. School pupils will also be offered the opportunity to earn an Arts Award at Discover level.
