We aim to give the visitor economy of the Allen Valleys a boost through support for tourism businesses and by making the most of our heritage assets
During the lifetime of the Landscape Partnership Scheme we will be helping visitor-facing businesses to make the most of the wonderful heritage that the Allen Valleys has to offer. We will be developing a small heritage and visitor information centre in partnership with Allendale Post Office, developing and promoting the North Pennines Electric Bike Network, funding and supporting the Allen Valleys Folk Festival and running a series of training courses for accommodation providers and other small visitor businesses.
Visit Allen Valleys
The Visit Allen Valleys forum was conceived in June 2014 and takes over some of the work of the Allen Valleys Tourism Network which has now disbanded. An inaugural meeting in June agreed that the aims of the forum would be to develop the visitor economy of the Allen Valleys.
The first 2015 meeting of the Visit Allen Valleys forum will be held on January 7th 11 a.m. at the Elks Head in Whitfield. Items on the agenda will include social media support, heritage training and updates on the Allen Valleys Folk Festival and the Electric Bike Network among others.
All visitor businesses in the Allen Valleys are very welcome to attend (pubs, cafes, B&Bs, self catering accommodation, caravan and campsites, activity providers, event venues, recreational groups who work with visitors, and so on). Food is provided as part of this meeting, so if you do wish to attend please confirm your attendance with either Andy or Fiona firstname.lastname@example.org ; email@example.com
During 2015 the forum will be chaired by the AONB Partnership, with a view to handing this on as the group becomes established.
