Learning in the North Pennines

The message is it's great to get out of the classroom and into the North Pennines to use this fantastic environment as a rich and varied learning resource. As well as discovering the natural world, children can learn how people living and working the area have shaped the landscape, and express their responses in creative ways.

Schools sign up as North Pennines Champions

Dozens of schools have already signed on the dotted line to become members of the 'North Pennines Champions' scheme, which will give them access to travel grants for educational visits within or on the fringes of the North Pennines AONB.

By registering with the North Pennines Champions scheme, schools will have access to travel grants of up to £300, resources for environmental education, opportunities to get involved in curriculum-based projects and a whole host of other benefits.

North Pennines Champions schools will also be invited to attend exciting activity weeks which will be running in the summer term of 2009 and again in 2010.
