Weardale Museum and High House Chapel

This highly-commended volunteer-run museum is packed with fascinating new displays and stories of Weardale's heritage including The Weardale Tapestry, a beautiful 16ft free-style embroidery.

Historic chapel

Adjoining the museum is the historic High House Chapel. Built in 1760, it is the oldest Methodist Chapel to have held continuous weekly services. The museum tells the story of Wesley's many visits to Ireshopeburn and provides access to the Chapel during Museum hours.
