Water vole monitoring programme

Surveying for water voles is not difficult, and can get you out into some beautiful landscapes.

We rely on volunteers a great deal to keep our records and information up to date, and to discover new sites, and in 2011 we launched a long-term monitoring programme involving volunteers.

Training for surveyors

As in previous years we are running a half day training events in 2012 to introduce you to water vole ecology and to experience water vole surveying. The courses are open to anyone who lives or spends time in the North Pennines and are aimed at those who can spare some time to help us with the long term monitoring project

Details of the training workshop and how to book are available as part of the full training programme for WildWatch North Pennines.

Long Term Monitoring Project

We now have a fairly good picture of the distribution of water voles in the North Pennines and are focussing our efforts on a long term monitoring programme to see how they fare over time. If you have some time to spare on a couple of days every spring/summer and would be willing to help out with this work, please get in touch.  andy@northpenninesaonb.org.uk

If you want to submit any findings please enter data on the submit a record page.
