 Events

To mark our anniversary year we’re laying on 25 fabulous events and activities which put the special qualities of the North Pennines in the spotlight!

25 Events - 25 Years

If you’re batty about bats, mad about rocks, crazy about hay meadows or head over heels in love with High Force and High Cup Nick – then book on our events and help us celebrate the stunning North Pennines!

Anniversary year

2013 is a significant year for the North Pennines – 25 years since the area was designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and 10 years since the AONB became a European Geopark.

Great line-up

We have a great line-up of guided walks, illustrated talks and fun activities for the spring, summer and beyond! You can see a full listing of our 2013 anniversary events programme - and book places - by visiting our Events Calendar. Profits from our events will support the work of the Friends of the North Pennines (registered charity number 1137467).

Booking

Most of our events are advance booking only to ensure enjoyment and safety for each group. Leaders will not accept you without a booking. Please only book on events that you fully mean to attend; you may prevent someone else taking part if you don’t turn up.  If you do need to cancel - let us know! Unfortunately if you cancel your booking within a week of the event date and the event subsequently goes ahead, we will be unable to refund the booking fee.

Events designed for families are clearly identified. Where appropriate minimum age limits are also provided. If in doubt call 01388 528801 for advice.

Please note that dogs are not allowed on any of our events.

Walk grades:

Easy - suitable for most people. Easy, comfortable walking, may be some stiles
Moderate - typically a country walk with some hills, stiles and muddy paths. Boots advisable
Hard - hill walks with steep, strenuous climbs. Rough moorland. Boots essential. Full hill walking kit required
